Temple Square and a Visit from Santa...

Sophie waited with excitement all day. Santa was going to make a quick visit to our house and then we were going to go to the Temple. When the doorbell rang, she ran as fast as she could. He was so jolly. She climbed up on his lap and they had a little chat about how good she has been. He asked her what she wanted him to bring her on Christmas Eve, She kindly asked for a Candy Cane. He laughed and gave her one. Then asked her if there were any toys she wanted. She told him what she has been asking for for months, A Sparkly Bavidia (Vidia) thats smiling with Tinkerbell and all of her Friends, a Unicorn pillow pet and a barbie. Dawson sat in his usual spot on my hip and stared at Santa. We put him on his lap and he continued to stare. We were able to snap a few cute pictures and he too got a candy cane. He immediately started chewing on it, paper and all. We let him eat it while we got ready for Temple Square. It was a beautiful, clear night. Dawson fell asleep on the way down and Sophie wanted to, but We managed to keep her awake. Daws woke up when we got there and they both enjoyed the lights. Daws fell back asleep about 10 minutes after we got there. We enjoyed being there, the Temple is so beautiful and I feel the spirit whenever I am close to it. We listened to the bagpipe player and did some river dancing while on lookers laughed. Dawson stayed asleep the whole night. We brought him home and quietly put his pajamas on. He must have been tired! Sophie fell asleep about 2 minutes after we got home!

Our first ever Soup off...

My mom is always full of fun ideas. Tonight we had our first annual soup off. Everyone had to make a soup, we tasted them all and then voted for our favorite. The winner got a silver ladle and a gift card to the soup kitchen. It was really fun. The soups were so tasty. I loved sampling them all. We packed the leftovers in containers and they were delivered to the Elderly along with some rolls. We wanted to go caroling but it got too late. Next year we are going to start earlier. It was fun, I am looking forward to next year and am already wondering what I am going to make.

A visit with Santa...

I have never seen a girl so excited to go to a ward Christmas party. All day she asked me what time it was, and how much longer we had until the party. She got herself dressed and looked so cute. She sang her little heart out with everyone waiting for the Jolly old elf to arrive. This is her face when he finally did... So cute! She waited patiently in line, told him what she wanted, took a picture and got a candy cane. Dawson looked at him, and then at us. He was a little confused and I could tell he didn't really care for him. He didn't make a peep though. When we were leaving Sophie asked us why she only got a Candy cane. I think she was under the impression that she was getting a gift tonight. She also asked if we could hurry outside so we could see the reindeer. It was cloudy, maybe next time!

25 days until Christmas...

It's December 1st!! We are so excited! We had a ton of snow outside when we woke up. Sophie and Dawson got to open their first Christmas present of the year. A Christmas shirt. Sophie couldn't get the paper off fast enough. Dawson just looked at his and then tossed it aside and went to play with a ball. As soon as we showed him that he could rip off the paper, he tore off a tiny piece, and put it right in his mouth. Funny boy! Sophie did her chocolate count down and her Christmas tree count down. Grammy came over last night and brought the kids a special elf. We named her Merry and every night she flies to the North Pole to tell Santa whether they have been naughty or nice. Then when we wake up in the morning she has moved to a new spot. It will be fun to look for her every morning. I love Christmas time. Sophie knows and sings several Christmas songs. She loves Rudolph and thinks elves are so awesome. I love her. I have the two sweetest kids in the world. I think today we are going to wrap some presents!
