The Big Three-O...

Corey turned 30 this year. He spent the entire day watching the NFL Draft, which luckily ended up being on his birthday this year. The only way he would let me throw him a party was, A: if there was a lot of good food, and B: if some form of gambling was involved. I agreed to his terms and threw him a party, we had a really good time. The Blancks brought their Craps table, which kept the boys busy the entire night. The girls had fun talking and watching a movie. Thanks everyone for coming! Sunday My mom and I made him a surprise Puerto Rican meal. He was under the impression we were having ribs. To his surprise when he walked in the door he was greeted by the smell of frying oil! We made Arroz Con Habichuelas (Rice and Beans), Tostones, Fried Pork Chops and Mofongo. He was in Heaven, it really was delicious! For dessert I made PF Changs Great wall of Chocolate cake. I love you so much! You are an amazing person! I hope you had an awesome Birthday!

*A funny story, after dinner on Sunday we were cleaning up. I asked Corey if he would get me the vacuum. He brought it to me and plugged it in. He then decided he was going to vacuum. He flipped the switch on the handle and nothing happened. He continued to flip the switch back and forth, until finally saying Ahh!!! I think this thing is broken. We were all sitting there watching him laughing silently . My Dad finally told him that what he was pushing wasn't the On, Off switch, but the switch that turned the rotating arm On and Off. He showed him where the real one was and turned it on for him. After my Dad exclaimed I can't believe you don't know where the switch is, have you ever vacuumed before? Corey's reply was "Yes, probably close to 100 times". I laughed and thought, in all my years with him. I had only seen him use a vacuum a handful of times. I said "you haven't vacuumed 100 times, it's probably more like 30". To which, Corey's nice little Mom Linda replies, "I'd have said less than 10". We all laughed. I decided I better get this monumental occasion on Film for posterity's sake, they may never see it again.

The Zoo...

We spent this beautiful day at the Zoo with some friends. Sophie had a blast! She loved all of the animals. She would proudly tell us all the sounds the animals make. She asked me several times if she could hug a certain animal. We had a picnic and then got Ice Cream. We topped the day off with a train ride. The little boys were tired and had had enough of the Zoo, so everyone left except Sophie and I. We stayed a little while longer and wandered around. She was so tired she was asleep before we even left the parking lot. I love to take her places. She always has so much fun and is always so good.

Happy Earth Day

lets all remember to do our part

I may be the only one that thought this was cool but, I wanted to put them on here anyway. Sam's friend drew this on my parents driveway last night with sidewalk chalk. The big picture is a face but smaller parts show the sun, Mr. Wind, and trees with the roots showing. It says Reach for the Earth. I was impressed.

Chalk Art...

We spent all day today working/playing at my parents house. Sophie loves to be outside. She Loves to swing, jump on the tramp, go down the slippery slide, ride her bike and color with chalk. Last night we all traced ourselves on the driveway. She was so proud of her drawing. She would lay by it and say "my Sophie color". She posed for a ton of pictures!

21 Months...

Sophie has started talking in sentences within the past month. She tells us exactly what she wants. She is starting to say some really funny things. She calls a sandwich a fonsant. I think fonsant is even harder to say than sandwich. The other day I was planting flowers, she came up to me and said, "What making momma". She calls herself Princess Sophie. She is stubborn and very smart. She is also extremely sweet and polite. She has an extremely funny sense of humor, just like her daddy. They make each other laugh all day. She loves to sing, and have me sing to her. She can sing the Popcorn song (popcorn popping on the apricot tree) all by herself. She loves me to sing songs about Jesus, and rock a bye baby. She loves to dance with Corey, they are always dancing. She has turned into a little girl overnight. I can't believe how fast time has gone. We have so much fun together. The last three pictures are an example of her stubbornness. She needed a nap, but was not about to fall asleep. I finally gave up and continued on with my day. She started playing on the stairs, when I looked over at her she was laying down. I walked over to her and saw that she was asleep. If she doesn't want to go to sleep, she won't. If she does she will tell you and then waste no time in falling asleep.

Easter Weekend...

We left for Blanding Thursday morning. We spent Friday playing outside and riding four wheelers. Sophie loved riding with Daddy. She is a little daredevil! Corey said she would sing the whole ride. We also blew bubbles, jumped on the tramp, and watched lots of movies. Everyone else got there late Friday night. Saturday we woke up to rain. We decided not to go to recapture pockets. We were all sad, but we headed to North Chapel and had a fun anyway! It stopped raining long enough to let the kids have an Easter egg hunt outside. Sophie LOVED it! She ran and ran holding on to her Easter basket really tight. She would run up to an egg put it in her bucket and say I did it. We left early Sunday morning. When we got home we went to my parents house for dinner. Sophie got to hunt for her Easter basket. It was so fun to watch her have fun this Easter. Last year she was too tiny to understand anything. It was a fun weekend.
