The adventures of...: June 2010

To someday remember what is was like to be the mother of two small children I have decided to document an entire day. I will attempt an hour by hour, play by play of what happens in our home on a daily basis. This is not made up or exaggerated in any way...
7:00 am... Woke up at 7:15 to feed Dawson. He went right back to sleep, so did I.
8:00 am... Sophie woke up at 8:50 and wanted a drink. I rolled out of bed feeling tired. I grabbed some sweats that were on the floor, put them on and went and got her a drink. Went back in my room to find a shirt. Opened my drawer and realized my clothes were in the laundry room and have been for a week now, I need to get to that at some point today. I found a shirt and put it on.
9:00 am... Sophie got out of bed, she was snuggling for a minute. She got her blanket and went downstairs to watch a movie. 9:10... I opened the blinds and watched the birds out on the lawn. There are so many of the black ones. I picked up some toys in the front room. Sophie came upstairs so I helped her go potty. 9:20... Helped Sophie put some clothes on. She loves to get dressed early. After she got dressed she ran outside. She chased the birds on the lawn and then went right over to the tomato plants. She checks them multiple times every day to see if they are ready to eat. There weren't any ready so she came back inside. I picked up a bag of crackers on the pantry floor and took the bag of Doritos away from Soph. I got her a bowl of cereal, her favorite kind right now is Corn chex. She has climbed on the counter and is throwing all of the toys I just picked up back onto the floor. It is currently 9:30. Dawson just woke up I changed his bum and out some clothes on him. I put him in his highchair, Soph has the bag of Doritos and is now eating " a couple ". It is 9:45, I made some toast and am sitting down trying to write my Costco list. I am listening to Sophie sing Ency weensy spider as she eats a bowl of grapes. I cleaned up spilled juice on the floor and washed a water bottle that Sophie wanted to drink out of. It is now 10:00
10:00 am... I went downstairs and turned on Handy Manny. Cleaned up a few toys, found some dirty laundry on the floor and took it to the laundry room. Put in a load of darks and sent a text message to a friend. I went upstairs and helped Sophie get her magnadoodle out of the cupboard. Came back downstairs and cleaned up more toys, picked up stickers all over the floor and went to throw them away. The trash in the bathroom was overflowing. I took it outside and replaced the bag. Sophie came downstairs with play dough and wanted to play in on the carpet, no thanks! It is 10:20... I sat down on the couch and fed Dawson. Sophie sat by me. We snuggled as we watched Imagination Movers. When Daws was done, I went upstairs and took some more trash out to the garbage can. Went in the bathroom to replace that bag. I saw the towel rack on the floor. It feel off yesterday. Got a screwdriver and fixed it. Went downstairs and picked up Soph, she was crying because she said she broke her leg. I took her upstairs so she could play with play dough. She wanted some goldfish so I got her a bowl. I cleared off her cereal bowl and wiped the milk off of the counter. She was sitting on the stool and asked me why we don't say Oh my G@*#. We had this conversation a few days ago. I explained to her again that is makes Heavenly Father feel sad, and that is just not a nice word. I guess that was a good answer, she is now outside, so much for play dough. It is 10:55.
11:00 am... I am still picking up toys. I think that is all I do all day. 11:10... I am attempting to clean the kitchen. I opened the dishwasher and Dawson started to cry. He has a poopy bum. I pick him up and change his diaper. Soph is quietly playing with Peter Pan and Wendy. I finished loading the dishwasher and turned it on. I hear Soph in the pantry, she grabs the backed lays and makes a run for it. Bring those back in here I yell after her, along with the bowl of goldfish from earlier. A minute later she is back with an overflowing bowl of chips. I follow a chip trail to her closet where the entire bag of chips is dumped out on the floor. Sweet! Dawson is crying and I left the sink running. I picked up the big ones but the crumbs are just going to have to wait. I return to the kitchen where all I have accomplished is turning on the dishwasher. My feet are sticking to the floor where the juice spilled this morning. Dawson is still crying. I pick him up and find his blankey. I wander around upstairs while I rock him to sleep. I love snuggling with my little guy! It's 11:30... Sophie got her baby is rocking it to sleep too. I put Dawson in his bed he is asleep. I grabbed the vacuum and snacked on the bowl of chips on my way to Sophie's room. I vacuumed up the chips on the floor. Went in the kitchen and got a drink of water. I remembered that I needed to water the flowers and tomato plants. I filled up the watering can and turned the hose on the tomatoes. Watered the flower pots and got the mail. Sat down at the table and looked through the mail.
12:00 pm... I washed some dishes by hand, wiped down the counter and shook the kitchen rugs outside. I put a pizza in the oven for lunch. It is 12:20. Dawson is awake and Soph is again playing in her room. I love listening to her play, she has an amazing imagination. I am finally brushing my teeth. When I was done with my teeth I got Dawsie out of bed. He is so smiley! I love that about him. We sat on the couch for a few minutes and played. I listened to Sophie read books downstairs. I quietly got the camera and hid around the corner while she read a princess book. I was so cute! She saw me and laughed. The pizza smelled done so I ran upstairs to get it out of the oven before it burned. Now we are sitting at the table eating pizza, Sophie is singing primary songs with a mouth full. The time is now 12:50. Tori just called and wants to come over. Yay! Sophie will be so excited. Soph is now smothering Daws with kisses and just asked me to take a picture.
1:00 pm... Soph just grabbed the bag of baked lays again, she is sitting outside on the steps eating them. Tori just got here, Soph ran inside and yelled "Yay Tori"! She threw the bag of chips on the floor and showed tori her "beautiful outfit". Dawson is playing with his toys in his walker, he is such a good boy and loves to play with his toys. Tori had to use the bathroom and now Soph is trying to kick down the door. After asking her 3 times to stop she is now in timeout. When she got out of timeout she and Tori played around upstairs. Sophie is now running around screaming really loud, it scared Dawson and now he is crying. I was leaving a message on my friends answering machine. I am sure she couldn't hear anything I was saying. I just got a call from Mike and Linda. They are on their way up to see us. I sat down on the couch and fed Dawson. When he was done I changed his bum. Tori is doing Sophie's hair and Dawson is laying on the floor by them. Sophie just told me I can't look at her until her hair was done. Sophie's hair is now done. Tori told her it looked so great. Soph asked Tori if it looked like hers. Tori said yes, Sophie asked her why she had two and tori only had one. Miss Smarty pants can't be fooled. I picked up Mr. Chubby from the floor and smooched his fat cheeks. Soph just ran outside and left the door open. Gram just called and on her way to pick up Tori. Here comes a melt down! Soph just went potty by herself. I made sure there was no pee anywhere and flushed the toilet. At 1:35 I am cleaning up lunch. Soph is now crying because she has piggytails and tori has a ponytail, she really wants them to be twiners. Gram is here and is fixing Tor's hair to look like Sophs. Soph wants to be just like Tor. We sat and talked about how much we love my yard and Gram ranted about the fourth of July. They are now leaving and the meltdown has begun. Time for a nap! Tori is so nice and decided to stay. She and Soph went outside and colored with chalk. Two minutes later they were back inside. They are now sitting at the counter eating a hot dog. Mike and Linda just got here. Mike hasn't seen Daws for a few months. Time to sit and visit with them. It is 5 minutes to 2:00.
2:00 pm... We sat a visited with Mike and Linda for a half an hour. Dawson played with toys on Linda's lap and Sophie read books with Tori. I fed Dawson and he fell asleep. Tori left, Sophie was happy though because Grandma Linda was here. I left them to play and went to the scrapbook store to buy the paper for Soph's Birthday invitations. It was nice to have a minute to myself.
3:00 pm... Got home from the scrapbook store. Mike and Linda had gone. I showed Sophie her paper. She was so excited! I sat down and worked on her invitations for a minute. The doorbell rang. It my friend Lisa. She and Owen came over for a visit. We layed the boys on the floor for a minute while we talked. She got some formula that I had for her. The doorbell rang again. It was a girl from Estonia. She was selling books. She came in and we talked. Lisa left and the girl stayed. She stayed for a long time, we talked about her country and the church.
4:00 pm... The girl just left. Wow she was here forever. Sophie liked looking at her books and Dawson sat on my lap and played with his toys. I played with Sophie for awhile. I fed Dawson and then went downstairs and talked to Corey in his office for a while. Sophie came downstairs with more chips.
5:00 pm... I ate a cookie, fed Dawson again and decided to make hamburgers for dinner. Sophie and I went to the store to get buns and Daws stayed home with Daddy. We got back and Corey made the hamburgers. Soph ate a couple of bites of meat and then finished off her bun. She wanted more chips but I said no. Dawson was playing in his walker. I sat down with my hamburger and took one bite when Dawson had a HUGE blowout. He started to cry. I picked him up and cleaned him up. Took his poopy clothes to the laundry room. Washed them out and sprayed them with spray n' wash. Looked at the piles of clothes that are still sitting there and wanted to cry. I put Dawson in his bouncer with a blanket. I am now sitting at the table eating a cold hamburger. Sophie came and sat on my lap. She asked for a bite of my hamburger. It was too big. She gagged and spit it out in my hand, Yum! She climbed off my lap and just went and sat in the walker where Dawson had a blowout. I said Soph get out of the walker there is poop in there. She climbed out and is now throwing a fit because she got poop on her clothes. She is immediately taking her clothes off, she is now walking around naked. She didn't even have any poop on her. I began to wash off the walker with a paper towel and Corey grabbed Sophie, as he was washing her hands amidst all the chaos, he jokingly said "it works better if you live your life instead of documenting it, put that in your book." I laughed and told him it was only for one day. Dawson is still sitting in his bouncer with no clothes on.
6:00 pm... I am now just finishing my dinner. I told Soph to put her pants on and now she is crying because her "underoos are crooked in her pants". She walking around the house crying with a bare bum and princess shoes on. She is awesome and still hasn't had a nap today. 6:05 I am cleaning up dinner. I took Daws downstairs and got him some clothes out of the laundry room. I got him dressed and layed him on the floor. I went back in the laundry room and put the clothes in the drier. Looked at those stinkin' piles of clothed again, walked out and shut the door. I sat down on the couch and fed Dawson. I watched the News and listened to Soph sing Chim Chimney. 6:30 I helped her go potty. She went outside and played around pretending to be Tinkerbell.
7:00 pm... sat downstairs and watched TLC. I am so tired. Sophie was falling asleep so we went on a walk to papa's. We took our time and enjoyed the beautiful summer night. We played at gram and papa's house for a little while.
8:00 pm... Walked home a little faster this time. Soph was falling asleep. I got them in the bath. I fed Dawson and he fell asleep. Corey got done working at 9:00. Papa came over and watched the kids. Cor and I decided to go see a late movie. It was so much fun! We haven't done that for a very long time. We got home around midnight and Soph was still not asleep. I have no idea how she stayed awake. She didn't have nap the whole day. She is a silly girl. I love being a mommy. It is the greatest joy I have ever experienced in my life. I thank Heavenly Father for my two precious children!

Life is speeding right on by. Dawson is 5 months old. He loves to stand, he is learning how to sit and gets frustrated when he is laying down, unless he is eating or sleeping. He smiles so much and is SO ticklish. He rolls all over and is learning how to get his toys. He loves toys and gets frustrated with them sometimes. It is so funny. He is wearing 6-9 month clothes, a size 2 diaper and I am guessing he is around 16 pounds. He eats rice cereal and oatmeal. He really dislikes the rice cereal and tolerates the oatmeal. He has started grabbing everything within reach. He takes about 2 naps a day and is still not sleeping through the night. He wakes up a few times still. He loves his pluggy and blanky just like his sissy. He has started sleeping on his stomach. It makes me nervous, but it is so cute. He loves to watch TV. His favorites are Sophie's favorites but he also loves watching sports. I got out his walker and he loves it. He could spend hours watching trees. He loves to suck on his toes and fists. He is so chubby. I loves kissing his fat cheeks. He still drools more than anyone I know. His clothes are always soaked. I love him so much! I can't imagine my life without him.
