We have had a crazy week. Last Thursday Sophie got a low grade fever. We were going to go to blanding but decided we better stay home. It's a good thing. Friday she was so sick. She had a fever even on Motrin, and a horrible cough and a runny nose. I thought maybe she had a cold and decided not to take her to the doctor. We tried to keep her away from Dawson in hopes of him not getting sick. Saturday Dawson woke up with a cough. He got a little bit worse as the day went on. By Sunday Sophie still had a fever that I couldn't get to go away. Dawson was stuffy and still coughing. I was so scared and frustrated sunday night. I have been really worried about RSV, and haven't gone anywhere in fear of him getting sick. He did any way. I had Corey give them a blessing, and felt better after knowing they would both be ok. Sophie slept the entire day on Sunday, I thought she was feeling better. Her fever went away after her bath and I thought she was getting better. Monday she woke up with a really high fever again, so we made the call to the doctor. I made an appointment for both of them. Right before we went, I noticed that one of Dawson's fingers was infected around his finger nail. He was also still stuffy and coughing. Our pediatrician was full for the day so they set up an appointment with another doctor. I felt grateful to be going in. An hour after I made the appointment I got a call from the office saying that our pediatrician wanted to see us himself, so they would squeeze us in at 4:30. I love having such a great doctor. The check up went well for Dawson. He was 10 pounds 3 ounces. He was put on an antibiotic for his little finger, it was just from getting clipped. He also just had a little cold. The Doctor said that at the moment he wasn't worried about him, but it could potentially turn into RSV, so we just needed to watch his breathing and eating habits. Sophie's check up was a little scarier. He didn't find anything in her physical exam, so he sent us down to have her chest x-rayed. I was freaking out. I started crying when he said he thought it was pneumonia. Her x-ray came back and it was indeed a mild case of pneumonia. He put her on an antibiotic and told us to bring her back in on Thursday if she wasn't doing better. My Dad came over monday night, and he and Corey gave them both a blessing. Tuesday she woke up and did better, but by Wednesday they both seemed to be happier and acting more like themselves. I think we are on the mend. I did take Dawson back in on thursday, I thought he was breathing weird. His oxygen was great, and so was his temperature. He told me that he thought he was going to be all right, and that I only needed to worry if he stopped eating. I felt better. I don't know how any parent can have a really sick child, one that requires a hospital. It is heart breaking to watch your babies suffer, and feel so completely helpless. I am so glad they are both doing better. In other news Sophie is officially potty trained. We had a few more melt downs about it, but then she just decided to do it and hasn't had one accident. She is such a funny girl. So stubborn. I took her to the store to get her some new pluggy's. On our way there she said, "I am so Happy! Momma are you happy"? I told her I was. She said, "This is so much fun! Thanks for taking me to the store to get new plugs, this is just so much fun!" She is so sweet and such a joy in my life. I find it so funny that one of my best friends is a two year old. I wish I could record all of the conversations we have. They are so grown up, yet simple and profound all at the same time. I love being a mom. It is so rewarding.

one month old...
Dawson is one month old. Where does the time go? He is such a sweet, well mannered baby. He loves being held and snuggled. When he is fussy, I will lay him down on our bed and he will immediately calm down and stare at the ceiling fan. It is so funny. He loves Sophie, and searches for her when he hears her voice. He is quickly out growing his newborn clothes, and is wearing a size one diaper. He sleeps pretty good at night. He went 5 hours once. It was so nice. That hasn't happened again though. It's so fun having a boy. He and Sophie have such different personalities. It is fun to watch. He is a bit of a momma's boy I think. He is such a joy to have in our house. Dawsie, your are adored by all who meet you, especially your sissy. She loves you to pieces, as do your mommy and daddy! We love you little chubby guy!

Snowphie...

The other night we were eating dinner. Sophie looked over at Corey and said, "Daddy your ears are wobbly". Corey laughed and said, "My ears are wobbly"? She said, "Ya they wobble when you eat". She then proceeded to mimic him chewing his food.
We were looking at pictures tonight. I came across this picture of her from Halloween. My Dad was with us, he asked her who the cute girl was. She said, "It's Sophie". He said, "Oh I thought it was Snow White. Is it Snow White or Sophie White"? She giggled and said, "No, it's Snowphie". I thought that was pretty clever! She is such a goof. She is doing So much better with the potty training thing! She hasn't had an accident since Monday. Yay!

crazy...
We have tried to introduce potty training to Sophie for a few months now. With no luck we have given up a few times. For a while now she would cry every time she would pee, then she would proceed to change herself. We went through way too many diapers. With two kids in diapers, the expense was adding up. We ran out of diapers on Sunday, and she hasn't been in one since. It has been a major power struggle. She is so stubborn and only does things on her own terms and in her own time. We have done everything we know how to do to make it more fun for her. We got her a princess potty, did a treat jar, bribed her with Mcdonalds, and bought her some princess underoos. Sunday she just held it and cried and cried until we finally put a pull up on her. She went to bed with a diaper on, and was up the entire night because every time she peed a little she wanted to be changed. Monday we decided to let her run around naked, that didn't work either. We had so many accidents. She would start out going on the potty then would jump off as she was going and run around crying and screaming. Monday night we had about had it, we decided to buy some prizes, wrap them and tell her they were special presents. She is one girl who LOVES presents, no matter what it is. I went to Walmart and bought several cheap toys, came home and made a sticker chart, and then explained the rules to her. Every time she goes on the potty she gets to put a sticker on her chart. About every 12 times or so there is a special square. When she reaches a special square, she gets a present. We started this yesterday. She went enough times in the morning that she reached a present. She was so excited. Corey told her that she could have another present if she went poo. She said ok, went right upstairs and pooped. So, we gave her another present. The rest of the morning she went several more times. As the afternoon progressed she stopped going. Last night she hadn't gone for awhile so we kept asking her if she needed to go. She kept saying she didn't, after a few hours she had had enough of us asking her. We had a major melt down. She wanted another present and she wanted to go to papas house. We told her that she couldn't have either until she went to the bathroom. She cried for an hour straight. She kept asking if we could go to papa's, I kept telling her that she knew what she had to do before we could go. I was so drained after an hour I was about ready to give up again. She asked one more time for her present and to go to papa's. Again I told her that she knew what she had to do before we could go. She said, "I need to go potty". I said yep, and she said ok. She ran in the bathroom and went. She came out and was totally happy. I gave her her present and that was the end of it. I broke her will that time. Holy smokes! I am pleased to report that we had no accidents yesterday. I think we must be crazy to be doing this at this point in time, but you have to do what you have to do right? What a crazy adventure. I am sure someday we will look back and laugh! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we are closer to the end of this. She is so smart and I know she knows exactly what she is doing. She is so incredibly strong willed, a trait that I admire in her. She amazes me. I swear she is smarter than I am! We are continuing on, wish us luck!

4 weeks...
Baby Brother is getting so big. He has changed so much in past few days. His eyes have become more focused, you can tell that he is really looking at you. His neck is getting stronger also. He still sleeps a ton, but eats even more! He loves Sophie and looks around for her when he hears her voice. He loves being held, and loves to snuggle. We love him so much, and love watching him change and grow.

tea party...
Grammy and Auntie Jess were going to take Sophie to the zoo today, but since it was raining they decided to take her to lunch and then have a tea party. She was so excited. They set up a little table cloth, made cookies and pink juice and set up some dolls and babies. She had so much fun. My mom said the whole time she kept saying, "this is so fun"! She was there all day. Corey and I took advantage of the time and went to a movie. Dawson didn't make a peep the whole movie. When we were done we were going to go pick her up, but she didn't want to come home. She stayed and played for a while. I love how girly she is. She is at the age where she enjoys everything. It is so fun!

valentines day...
We had a fun, uneventful valentines day. Saturday night we ordered take out and got a redbox. Sunday we woke up and made waffles with strawberries and whip cream. We gave Sophie her valentine, I absolutely love giving her presents. She loves everything and gets so excited. We gave her a new minnie movie, a little outfit and a purse. Dawson just got a shirt that is way too big! Oh well, at least he doesn't know what is going on yet. Corey took Sophie to church. They were just going to go to sacrament meeting, but ended up staying the whole time because she just had to go to nursery. She loves it right now. Dawson and I stayed home and rested. We went to my parents house for dinner. My mom made a yummy food and gave us all a valentine. I am grateful for all of the people I love in my life! xoxo

pictures...
Dawson is two weeks old. Corey's cute cousin Noelle offered to take some pictures of my kiddos. I love them. They turned out so great! We are doing good. Adjusting to life with two kids is a fun and exhausting challenge. He is a really good baby, and eater! He had his two week well child check up, he is growing so well! He weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces. Our pediatrician was again surprised by how much he weighed. He was the same way at Sophie's two week. She had also gained a pound. Apparently babies are only supposed to be back to their birth weight at two weeks. Both of my babes reached their birth weights, and then gained a pound! I think its pretty funny! We are so grateful for healthy happy babies! Sophie is still doing so well with the change. She loves her brother so much. She smothers him all day! He usually loves it, but sometimes he gets annoyed and grunts at her. It is so cute! I love watching her with him, and can't wait until he can interact with her more.

1 week old...
It's already been a week. It is just crazy how time goes. He is doing so well and is so mellow. He is sleeping pretty well at night, but has his nights and days a little bit mixed up. I am working on adjusting to having very little sleep and still being able to take care of and pay attention to Sophie. She is doing so well though, she has shown no signs of jealousy so far. We love having a boy. He has such a sweet spirit. Corey can't wait for him to be able to run around. We love our sweet miracle boy!
