a Surprise for Grandma Linda

We drove to Blanding to spend a surprise weekend with Linda for her Birthday. We got there Friday night while they were working at the temple. We decorated the kitchen with balloons and streamers. I made a lemon bundt cake, and the kids made a poster. They got home around 9:30. We were all standing in the kitchen with the lights off, when she walked in she didn't turn the lights on right away so she saw our darkened silhouettes, she said oh Mike some one is in our house. He quickly flipped on the lights and we all yelled surprise. She nearly fainted with excitement. It was a fun weekend, the kids all had a good time playing together. Sophie loves her cousins so much! Saturday night Tanya and I made everyone an Olive Garden dinner. It was really yummy! We spent Saturday doing crafts while the boys took all of the kids to the field to ride horses, see the cows giving birth and shoot targets. I think poor Jace was a little traumatized with seeing a cow give birth, he didn't want to go back and he couldn't stop telling us how gross it was. Sunday morning we went back to the field, there were babies everywhere and several more mommies were in labor. It was so neat! It felt so springy to see all of the babies! It was so much fun! Thank you everyone for coming!

Taco Night...

Thanks to Tyler Florence and the Food Network, I found some really yummy recipes for an Authentic Mexican Taco night. We invited our friends over for dinner and games. I slow cooked some beef shoulder in a dutch oven for 4 hours. It was tender, flavorful and delicious. I also made Mexican street corn, deep fried corn tortillas and Pina Coladas. Lisa brought some homemade guacamole that was to die for and Heidi made the most delicious cupcakes I have ever had! After dinner we played games and as always we laughed until we cried. Thanks for coming over guys! It's always a blast!

Hi Bob...

I bet you didn't know that there is a Bob in the movie Shrek?
Well neither did I...
Sophie loves to play with Movie cases. She carries them around every where she goes. She is constantly asking us to name each character her chubby finger points to. One day as she was routinely throwing every movie off the shelf, she spotted Shrek. She has never seen it because its not really for little kids. Any way when she picked it up she took an instant liking to it. She found Corey and began pointing at all of the Characters starting with Princess Fiona on to Lord Farquad. As she got to Lord Farquad Corey was stumped and could not remember his name. Being her determined little self she continued to point and ask who's that, who's that. Finally after giving up because of his little girls persistance Corey said his name is Bob. Satisfied, Sophie went on her way playing games. I was gone during this time, when I got home Sophie ran to me with the Movie case in hand and said pointing to Lord Farquad, "Mommy, Bob". I started laughing and asked Corey why she was saying that. He laughed and told me the story. Sophie now loves Bob, she laughs with him and talks to him any chance she gets. The other night we were leaving and as we were walking out the door she saw the case on the ground and yelled "Bye Bob". She picks up new words so quickly. She is in the room with me right now, as she saw the picture of the Shrek characters she let out a scream of excitement. She is the biggest nut~

I Love You Day...

Our Valentines Day started on Friday. Corey took me to The Sushi house in American Fork for all you can eat sushi. After we ate about 9 rolls we went and saw He's just not that into you. We liked it ok. Sophie played at Aunt Autumn's house while we were gone. Saturday morning we woke up, Corey and I made Sophie Chocolate heart shaped pancakes with strawberries and whip cream and bacon. After breakfast we let Sophie open her valentine from us. We gave a princess sticker book. She loved it. My dad came over in the afternoon to fix our oven. It broke a few days ago. We had to go get a part for it, on the way home I stopped at Olive Garden to get some salad and bread sticks for our dinner. I made Seafood Alfredo. It was yummy, but I was feeling a little sick so I didn't eat very much. Sophie had several people drop Valentines off for her. She thought it was the greatest thing.

Ahh Spider...

Sophie runs around our house and screams Ahh Spider... do you think she has heard me say that a little too much? Either that or It is what she says so that I will hold her, because every time she says it I will scoop her up and hold her. She makes me laugh every day!

Fly...

Corey has started to fly Sophie around. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. She puts her arms out and has a smile on her face the whole time. She will say "daddy fly, fly". She could do it all day. It must be so much fun to fly! I know when I was little I always wished that I could fly! Here is a little video clip of them.

This Girl Loves her Accessories...

This is what Sophie looks like all day. She has to have her necklace and her bracelets on. Her bracelets are always up to her elbow on her right arm, she never wears any on her left arm. She is such a girl! She carries purses around with her babies and her phone inside. I love it! I really want to get her some dress ups! I think she would love them!
