Last Monday, Corey asked me if I wanted to take a little family vacation over Memorial Day. Of course I said yes! We started to brainstorm and decided to go to Denver. We were going to go to a Rockies game, A Lakers vs. Nuggets game and some of the cool museums. We got our hotel booked and were planning on leaving early Friday morning. On Wednesday we checked the 7 day forecast and saw that it was going to rain the whole week. We started to question our decision. That's when we decided to put the names of several cities we felt like going to, and letting fate decided where we were going. Seattle, Denver, Houston, Orlando, San Diego and Maine were all put into the hat. Corey put his hand into the hat, picked a paper and on it was Maine. Neither of us have ever been there, and we thought it would be pretty cool. We started looking for flights and soon realized it would cost $1500 for one round trip ticket. Way more than we wanted to spend on this vacation.( Maybe some day.) So back to the hat we went, our next draw was San Diego. We figured it would be a fun one, and somewhere we could drive. We booked our hotel and drove away at 7:30 Friday morning. We stopped in St. George for a subway and a park. We didn't find a park but we did find a grassy area by an empty parking lot. We got a popsicle and some gas in Las Vegas and Del Taco for dinner in Barstow. Sophie was amazing a didn't complain once. We got to San Diego around 7:30. We tried to go swimming but the water was freezing so we settled on a nice warm shower and some pastries from the neighboring grocery store. Saturday we woke up and ate a nice, free continental breakfast at the hotel. We got ready and then debated on going to Sea World, the Zoo or Lego Land. We decided on Sea World. We saw all of the shows, rode all of the rides, touched some star fish, and went to the aquarium. Sophie loved looking at the fish. We realized as we were leaving that both Corey and I got sunburned. When we got back from Sea World we went to the beach. It was a little too cold for me. Sophie and Corey loved it. All Sophie wanted to do was splash in the waves. Sunday we went to the Padres vs. Cubs game. It was so fun! I love watching baseball games. Sophie was incredibly good, I was expecting to wander around the entire Baseball diamond. She sat in her chair, and we enjoyed a hot dog, some popcorn and ice cream and a princess sticker book. On our way back to the hotel we stopped by the San Diego Temple. We walked around the grounds and enjoyed the quiet peaceful atmosphere. Sophie was in heaven because she found potato bugs in the flower beds. We went to the beach again that night. Monday morning we went to the beach for the last time. We left for Las Vegas around 1:00. We stopped just outside San Bernadino and ate a Chili's. We got to Las Vegas around 9, we had a piece of pizza and then went to bed. Tuesday we went to pool all morning. We walked around the strip, went to M&M world, and ate at a buffet. We left for home early Wednesday morning and got home around 4. It was a really fun trip and a nice break from life!

22 months...
Sophie is talking so much. She can say anything she wants now. She loves to tell us stories and read us books. She loves to be outside, not matter what she is doing. She is the Bug Queen, she loves to look at bugs and even hold them. I was planting flowers the other day, she was outside with me. She found a dead potato bug that was crusty. She wanted to play with it so bad, so I let her. After a few minutes of carrying it around it broke in half. She brought it to me and asked me to fix it. I told her that I couldn't fix it because it had gone to live with Jesus. She looked at me for a second and said "no mommy fix it". I told her again that the bug had died and that he went to live in heaven with Jesus. She was so sad she started to cry. She loves to be held and will say "Hold Soph". It is so cute you just have to pick her up. She is such a GIRL. She loves all things girly. She is such a big girl too, and so independent. Everything now is "My do it". She is so much fun! She keeps me entertained all day. She has become a night owl and won't go to bed until 11:30 or 12:00. It's a pain, but I have to remind myself that someday when she is all grown up I am going to wish for the late nights. I am a bit in shock that she is almost 2. Time goes way too fast.
