a visit from St. Nick...

Our Elder's Quorum hired Santa to come around and visit all of the kids in the ward. He made a stop at our house. Sophie was so excited the whole day that he was coming. She waited by the window for them to arrive. When they finally got here and we opened the door, she changed her mind in a hurry. She started to cry, which is so out of character for her. He sat on our couch while we tried to calm her down. She wanted nothing to do with him. We laughed, he gave her a candy cane, and we snapped a few pictures. She told him what she wanted through sobs, on the other side of the room. He left and she was fine. She is a nut. She loves the idea of Santa, but when he comes to her house it is a little too scary. She also had no nap today and was extremely tired. Now when we tell her Santa is going to bring presents to her house, she cries and says she doesn't like Santa.

50 days to go...

and... I am in Pre-term labor, again. Thankfully this time it isn't as bad as it was with Sophie. I am progressing at a slower pace, which is reassuring for a full term (37 weeks) delivery. The Doctor put me on modified bed rest. This means I have to take two, two hour rest periods every day, and I can't lift anything heavier than 5 pounds, let me just say how impossible that is with a two year old. I am doing the best that I can though. I really don't want this little guy to come for at least four more weeks. I don't think I can emotionally handle the NICU. I don't know how my sister in law Laura is doing it. I also start my weekly NSTs next Monday. I had them twice a week with Sophie, so again I feel confident that he will make it a little longer. I had an ultrasound today also, he is a big boy already. I am 33 weeks today and he is measuring 35. The ultrasound technician pointed out some fat rolls, and then she couldn't stop commenting on all of the fat that he had. He was weighing around 5 pounds too! She asked me how big Sophie was, when I told her she was 5 lbs. 13 ounces she laughed and said, Oh he is going to be a lot bigger than that. I feel huge. I am already bigger than I was with Sophie at delivery. I am quickly running out of clothing options, it's kind of funny. The bottom of my stomach hangs out of most of the shirts I wear around the house because I honestly don't have anything else to wear. Corey laughs and calls me his trailer park wife. I constantly have a foot in my rib. I hope it will fully recover after! I feel sorry for him. I know he is so squished in there. Breathing and eating have also become a thing of the past. The problem is I need both! Breathing is good, and I am still hungry all of the time I just have no room to eat. I never feel full. These are all new experiences. My pregnancy was quite different with Sophie. It is fun to compare. We are doing great though! Especially him. He is going to be a strong healthy boy, which is all I can ask for. So here is hoping for a few more weeks. I am thinking he will be here around my birthday.

Santa Claus...

We had our ward Christmas party last Friday, we had a nice time meeting some of our neighbors. The highlight was for sure when Jolly Old St. Nick came into the room. Sophie was so excited she grabbed Corey by the face and said, "I cannot believe it". When it was her turn she ran right up to him sat on his lap and told him she wanted a baby. That is the only thing she has been asking for. A couple of days ago we went to Costco. Oddly enough it is one of her favorite places. She found some porcelain princess dolls. She wanted them so bad. I told her needed to ask Santa. She looked at me with a frown and said, "But momma, I already seened him." I laughed and explained to her that we could write him a letter. She is so funny! All of the other kids her age were crying. She loved him. I am so excited for Christmas day! She is going to be so much fun!

Christmas Card 2009...

We have had an amazing year full of changes and adventures. We just bought a new home in East Mill Creek, and are loving it! Corey is still working in the stock market. He has been very busy, to which we are grateful. I am a busy mother and wife. I love have the opportunity to stay at home. Sophie is an extremely energetic two year old. She loves princesses and baby dolls. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy at the end of January. We feel so grateful for the abundant blessings the Lord has given us.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas. May you be blessed with Health, Happiness and Love this Christmas Season and throughout the New Year.

sophie's christmas hat...

This silly hat is one of Sophie's favorite. It came on a gift my parents got last year from one of their neighbors. She fell in love with it. They gave it to her and she has called it her Christmas hat ever since. She has been wearing it every night because it has been so cold. We took some cheesy pictures tonight, I think she is the cutest girl that has ever lived! We have been loving the Christmas movies! Our favorite one to watch right now as a family is the Grinch, she loves it! Corey called it Grinchy poo the other day, and she laughed hysterically. Now that is what she calls it, she laughs every time she says it.

an unusual fact...

My Daddy knows how to braid hair... Corey did Sophie's hair today. It looked so cute! I was just thinking the other day if he would do her hair when I go have our baby at the hospital. My question was answered! I am surprised that a boy growing up with five brothers would know how to braid hair!

Oh!! Christmas Tree...

Sophie loves our Christmas tree. She loves the ornaments, and the lights. This morning went as usual, after breakfast she was playing, and I was trying to get my thoughts together for the day. I was sitting at the kitchen table, Sophie wandered into the living room by the tree. I heard her playing with the jingle bells that she had put on the couch last night. A few minutes of jingling went by and then CRASH!!!! I heard broken glass, a little girl crying and the sound of pine needles hitting by new wood floor. I ran... The first thing I did was look for Sophie. She was red faced with tears in her eyes under the tree. After I got her out from under the tree, I did a quick search over her to make sure she wasn't hurt, she was fine but completely traumatized. I then glanced at the tree and realized what had really just happened. Our live Christmas tree had just been pulled over, and a couple gallons of water were going everywhere. I yelled for Corey and set Sophie on the couch, she was still screaming and crying. Corey ran upstairs. His face was priceless. It's probably what mine looked like. I am so grateful he was home. I don't know what I would have done if he wouldn't have been there. He lifted the tree up, I grabbed some rags... a lot of rags. We started with the water. We used about 30 rags and a mop. While we were cleaning up the water were speaking loudly to each other. I don't want to say yelling because we weren't, but our voices were raised. Sweet Sophie was still sitting on the chair crying. Right in the middle of us cleaning up the water and speaking loudly to each other, our window guy came to fix our broken window. Thankfully we have known him for years or it would have been even more embarrassing. Sophie finally calmed down after we got all of the water cleaned up. Then came the rug. It had soaked up a lot of water and had pine needles and glass all over it. We took it outside and shook it off the hung it up over the banister to dry. We went back inside and started sweeping up the shattered ornaments. We only lost about 10. Sophie was still so sad but she had stopped crying. I felt like the worst mom, and neither of us even got mad at her. I just can't stand when she is so upset. The star on top of the tree had been sent flying halfway across the room. A few hours later we had everything cleaned up and back to normal. We had a little chat with Sophie about not ever touching the tree again. I personally don't think she ever will again. I think she was trying to reach an ornament that was a little too high, and being the independent girl that she is, thought that maybe she could climb the tree to reach it. Later that day Corey started putting ornaments back on the tree, he grabbed a step stool and the star and proceeded to place the star on the tree for the second time. As he was reaching he lost his balance a little and grabbed the tree for support. It started to tip. He regained his balance and yelled for my help. A few ornaments fell of and broke again. I was laughing. He said we weren't going to have a star because if the tree fell over again it was going outside! Such a male thing to say!!! Sophie heard the commotion and the sound of shattering ornaments and came running into the room. She asked in a concerned voice, "What happened." Corey told her that he almost knocked over the tree. She walked over to the time out chair, patted it with her little hand and said, "Daddy sit in time out". We both laughed and Corey went and sat in time out. Later tonight I got the star back up and the rest of the ornaments back on. Our tree and room are now back to normal. She tells people about it and says, "I knocked over the Christmas tree, it was so funny!" I laugh looking back. It was such a nightmare at the time, but it has left us with years and years of laughs! I am also sure it is not the last time it will happen. Maybe we should buy some plastic ornaments, and not keep so much water in the base.
