We spent a fun weekend in Blanding for Grandma Linda's birthday. We drove down late Thursday night. It was exciting, we usually go down during the day. When we were dating we used to travel only at night. That changed with kids. It couldn't have been a more perfect night for driving. The skies were clear and just as we entered price canyon a full moon rose over the mountains. We arrived in Blanding around 10:30. We unloaded our things and went to sleep. Friday we woke up and played around with the toys. Sophie loves Grandma and Grandpa's toys. We made shells and cheese for lunch, then Grandma Linda, the babes and I went to Alco. We found some candy, a new baby for Soph to play with and I got a new purse. We also got a gate for the stairs. On our way back we decided to stop at the pharmacy. They always have cute holiday decor and fun kids things. We had fun looking around. We got back and Jeff and the kids pulled up. Soph had been waiting all day for maddie. We hung some pictures on their freshly painted walls. My Dad and the kids came around 4. It was fun that they were able to come. The boys and kids played street football and rode four wheelers around until it was dark. We ate dinner and then every one else came. We talked and the kids played for hours. We went to sleep around 11. Saturday we woke up and made Biscuits and gravy for breakfast. The boys were going to go shoot clay pigeons but it was raining. We decided instead to drive to Mesa Verde in Colorado to see the Indian ruins. It rained our whole drive. Just before Dove Creek my Dad spotted a Bald Eagle in a tree. We tried to get as close as we could. It was amazing. It is rare to see one in the wild. I forgot I had a camera and didn't get a picture. When we got to Cortez a gas station clerk told us he thought it would be snowing in Mesa Verde. We decided to chance it. We didn't want to waste the hour and a half drive. The skies were clear when we got there. It was free admission too because they had a flood in the visitors center. Part of it was closed as were a lot of the trails. We drove around and looked at some of the ruins. I am amazed at how they used to live. On the side of cliff. It must have been interesting with children. I rained on and off the whole time we were up there. I think at the summit we were just over 8,000 feet. It was a gorgeous view. We stopped at Walmart on the way back for a few groceries and a new vacuum for Linda's birthday. We hit a crazy snow/rain storm on our way home. Tumble weeds were flying across the road and every time a semi-truck passed us it felt like we had just gone through a car wash. We got back around 6. We made dinner and then we had a Birthday party for Linda. I made her a cake and we all gave her a kindle. The boys played games after the party and the kids ran around downstairs until 11:30. Sunday we woke up and made breakfast. We sat around and watched movies. The boys and kids rode four wheelers. They were covered in mud when they came in. We made lunch around 1:00. Every one packed up and left right after lunch. We waited and left around 3. We traveled with my Dad. We stopped in Price and ate dinner at Pizza Hut. We hit a snow storm at soldiers summit. We went 40 miles an hour almost the entire way. When we got home our house was freezing. We showered and all climbed into bed. I think we were all asleep by 10. It was a fun weekend.
