Last Monday, Corey asked me if I wanted to take a little family vacation over Memorial Day. Of course I said yes! We started to brainstorm and decided to go to Denver. We were going to go to a Rockies game, A Lakers vs. Nuggets game and some of the cool museums. We got our hotel booked and were planning on leaving early Friday morning. On Wednesday we checked the 7 day forecast and saw that it was going to rain the whole week. We started to question our decision. That's when we decided to put the names of several cities we felt like going to, and letting fate decided where we were going. Seattle, Denver, Houston, Orlando, San Diego and Maine were all put into the hat. Corey put his hand into the hat, picked a paper and on it was Maine. Neither of us have ever been there, and we thought it would be pretty cool. We started looking for flights and soon realized it would cost $1500 for one round trip ticket. Way more than we wanted to spend on this vacation.( Maybe some day.) So back to the hat we went, our next draw was San Diego. We figured it would be a fun one, and somewhere we could drive. We booked our hotel and drove away at 7:30 Friday morning. We stopped in St. George for a subway and a park. We didn't find a park but we did find a grassy area by an empty parking lot. We got a popsicle and some gas in Las Vegas and Del Taco for dinner in Barstow. Sophie was amazing a didn't complain once. We got to San Diego around 7:30. We tried to go swimming but the water was freezing so we settled on a nice warm shower and some pastries from the neighboring grocery store. Saturday we woke up and ate a nice, free continental breakfast at the hotel. We got ready and then debated on going to Sea World, the Zoo or Lego Land. We decided on Sea World. We saw all of the shows, rode all of the rides, touched some star fish, and went to the aquarium. Sophie loved looking at the fish. We realized as we were leaving that both Corey and I got sunburned. When we got back from Sea World we went to the beach. It was a little too cold for me. Sophie and Corey loved it. All Sophie wanted to do was splash in the waves. Sunday we went to the Padres vs. Cubs game. It was so fun! I love watching baseball games. Sophie was incredibly good, I was expecting to wander around the entire Baseball diamond. She sat in her chair, and we enjoyed a hot dog, some popcorn and ice cream and a princess sticker book. On our way back to the hotel we stopped by the San Diego Temple. We walked around the grounds and enjoyed the quiet peaceful atmosphere. Sophie was in heaven because she found potato bugs in the flower beds. We went to the beach again that night. Monday morning we went to the beach for the last time. We left for Las Vegas around 1:00. We stopped just outside San Bernadino and ate a Chili's. We got to Las Vegas around 9, we had a piece of pizza and then went to bed. Tuesday we went to pool all morning. We walked around the strip, went to M&M world, and ate at a buffet. We left for home early Wednesday morning and got home around 4. It was a really fun trip and a nice break from life!

22 months...
Sophie is talking so much. She can say anything she wants now. She loves to tell us stories and read us books. She loves to be outside, not matter what she is doing. She is the Bug Queen, she loves to look at bugs and even hold them. I was planting flowers the other day, she was outside with me. She found a dead potato bug that was crusty. She wanted to play with it so bad, so I let her. After a few minutes of carrying it around it broke in half. She brought it to me and asked me to fix it. I told her that I couldn't fix it because it had gone to live with Jesus. She looked at me for a second and said "no mommy fix it". I told her again that the bug had died and that he went to live in heaven with Jesus. She was so sad she started to cry. She loves to be held and will say "Hold Soph". It is so cute you just have to pick her up. She is such a GIRL. She loves all things girly. She is such a big girl too, and so independent. Everything now is "My do it". She is so much fun! She keeps me entertained all day. She has become a night owl and won't go to bed until 11:30 or 12:00. It's a pain, but I have to remind myself that someday when she is all grown up I am going to wish for the late nights. I am a bit in shock that she is almost 2. Time goes way too fast.

First Trip to the Lake...
We cleaned and de-winterized the boat, packed a lunch and headed to Rockport for an afternoon of fishing and boating. The weather was amazing! The water on the other hand wasn't. We were not really planning on getting in the water, but miss Sophie had other ideas. We beached the boat on a sandy little shore and cast out our lines. Sophie was content playing in the boat for a while. She wandered around eating all of the junk food she could find, played with the "snakes" (worms) we were fishing with and stood up on the seat and threw almost an entire bag of Lays potato chips into the lake. When we started getting out to fish on the shore, she wanted to also. We got her out and she sat and played in the sand for a good 30 minutes. She was throwing it all over the place. I think most of it ended up on her face. I kept telling her not to throw it all over, she finally looked at me and said "mommy it fun"! When she was done playing in the sand, she decided it was time to go swimming. Sam held her hands while she proceeded to put her feet in the chilly water. The cold didn't even phase her. She loved it. She was wet from head to toe by the time we were ready to go. I took her clothes off and wrapped her in a towel. We drove around the lake for a few minutes before we headed for home. And of course, It would not be a Sharp trip to the Lake without something silly happening. Just as we were leaving Browns canyon, My Mom called us to tell us they were at a stand still in Parleys Canyon. We got barely past Park City when we hit the back up. We asked a trucker what was going on, he told us it was an accident at the bottom of the hill. We crept along for a while, luckily I brought the DVD player so the kids watched monster inc. We started getting closer to an exit when we realized we were all being detoured off that exit. We asked a highway patrolman where we were supposed to go. He told us everyone was to go back to park city for a couple of hours. We started getting off the exit when we saw all of the cars in front of us getting right back on. They forgot to block the on ramp! We followed, and got right back on the freeway. We drove for a while and then hit the traffic jam again. We finally got past it and saw a badly mangled car that had smashed into a cement barrier. We ended up getting home around 9:30. It was a long but fun day! I am so excited it is this time of year again!

Mother's Day...
I had a wonderful mother's day. I got clothes, flowers and vegetables to plant in my garden! My mom gave Sophie a princess swimming suit today. She loved it. She had to wear it the rest of the day.

finger painting...
I let Sophie use water colors for the first time. She Loved it! We made pictures for Grandmas for Mother's Day. I loved watching her paint. She sat and painted for almost a half hour. Her favorite part was dipping the paint brush in the water. She also used her fingers and thought the paint looked silly on her skin. After the paper was painted, she proceeded to paint the tray on her highchair.

dressing up...
Sophie loves to dress up. It is her most favorite thing. Recently she has had to pick out her own outfits. I think it is so funny and I don't care! She usually has to have her bracelets and necklaceses (that's what she calls them) on, and her pretty princess shoes. Her favorite shoes right now are her red Christmas shoes. Yesterday Corey took her outside. She had heart pajamas on with a navy blue polka dotted skirt, relly shoes, bracelets up to her elbone (in her words), her Christmas hat and her necklaces on. I wish I had taken a picture. Here are pictures of some other days. This is what she wore the other day.
She is always making me laugh. She is such a GIRL! I love it! She is talking so much. It is so much fun to here her little voice. She has started grabbing my chin to turn it in her direction as she says "Listen Mom, Listen". She loves to be outside I am so glad it is warm again so we can play outside.
