Christmas Trees

For as long as I can remember, we go cut down Christmas trees at some property that my Dads family used to own. They sold it to some friends several years ago. Every year they invite a whole bunch of people to come "thin out the trees". I cant believe it is already this time of year. It feels like we just barely went. We always have so much fun. (even if it doesn't seem like it at the time!) My dad is so funny, he hikes to the top of the mountain in search of the perfect tree.
(you know the one with the spotlight, that is already decorated with the birds and deer around it singing.) As I have gotten older that trait has rubbed off on me. Everyone always starts out with us but in the end My dad and I are the only ones left hiking back down the mountain. I guess you can say we are Christmas tree experts! After a few hours, a couple of falls and freezing toes and noses we found some good ones! We tied them to the truck, took some family pictures and went to Dicks drive-in in Kamas. This is one of my favorite traditions, and one I hope to be able to carry on for many more years!

Let it Snow... Let it Snow... Let it Snow!

It snowed ALL day today! It was so fun to watch.
It reminded me how much I really do like this time of year.
Corey bundled Sophie in all her gear and took her outside for the first time.
She loved it. She came back in freezing with a little red nose.
Rain or shine this little girl loves to be outside!

Election 2008

Barack Obama
44th President of the United States of America.
I must admit I was feeling a little bit uneasy the past few weeks as the election swiftly approached. It seemed no matter where I went everyone was discussing the election and everyone has a different opinion. I have never felt sure about either candidate. One thing I felt sure about was, I did not want Obama to win. I am not sure why but he scares me a little maybe its the name Barack Hussein Obama? I had a feeling he was going to win despite all other efforts. As we were watching John McCain's speech last night I started silently praying for our country. My prayer is that our new President will have Heavenly Fathers spirit with him, to guide our country with wisdom. I hope he is a good man and that he will be able to lead us out of the crisis we are in.

Happy Halloween

This year Sophie was a Butterfly. We had a fun night. We went to my parents and had our Spooky dinner. We took Sophie trick or treating, we went to 4 houses and decided to call it a night. She got 2 suckers and a couple of candy bars. She was so excited. Allen and Melissa had their annual Halloween Party that night also. We went and had tons of treats and played Mafia, a Halloween tradition!
This video is of Sophie Trick or Treating at her first house.

The Happiest Place on Earth

Corey Sophie and I decided we would go to Disneyland for our first little family vacation.
We had so much fun! Sophie loved everything and was such a good girl. We left Wednesday and drove to Las Vegas to stay the night at the Mirage. While we were there we went to the Sigfried and Roy lion and dolphin habitat. It was really neat to see. We ate the buffet too. Thursday we woke up early and drove to California. Corey had to teach a class that night, so Sophie and I had to leave the room. We went and wandered around downtown Disney. We had three hours so I was trying to take it slow. after an hour we were already done. Sophie was restless and I had no idea what we were going to do for the other two hours. I bought her a hot dog and we sat down to eat it. A little family came and sat next to us, they were getting ready to go into the Halloween trick or treat party in California Adventure, they have one every week night the whole month of October. It was sold out that night. I was curious if it was something worth doing considering it was an extra 30.00 a person to do, so I asked them. They were so nice and told me that it was so much fun. They come to it every year. I asked them if they thought Sophie would enjoy it. They thought she would. The mom asked me if I was alone, I told her I was for a couple of hours. She said I have an extra ticket that is going to go to waste I would love for you to take it. I accepted!!!! I could hardly contain my excitement, not only did I get to spend an extra night in Disneyland but it was FREE. Sophie and I spent the two remaining hours in California Adventure trick or treating. We both got a bag full of candy and took our picture with Handy Manny and the little Einsteins. We also saw Belle, Pocahontas, Flick, Mr Incredible and Maleficent. Friday we woke up and went to Disneyland. We let Sophie walk down Main Street to our Fantasy Land destionation. She loved it! She waved and said hi to everyone. She loved all the rides we went on. That morning we also went to meet the Princesses at the Fantasy Faire. She nearly fainted with excitement when she saw Minnie Mouse for the first time. We watched the Pixar Play Parade and the Firework show. Saturday was pretty crowded. We wandered back and forth through the parks and went on a ton of rides. We went to the Playhouse Disney Live on Stage twice. She LOVED it! She danced and clapped the whole time. We watched the Parade of Dreams that night. Corey saw John Locke from lost when he went to ride California screamin. He was pretty excited but didn't want to say anything to him because he thought he was trying to blend in. Sunday we had our early entry day so we woke up and went to the park at 7:00. It was so warm the whole time we were there except that morning, it was foggy and cold. The Park was so empty too! We went to ride Nemo but it was broken so they gave us a free pass to get right on later in the day when they had it fixed. We went and waited for Toon Town to open so Sophie could meet Mickey. We were one of the first people in line to see him. She had never been so happy in her whole life! She laughed and danced, turned in circles, screamed, hugged him and kissed him on the nose. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen it made me cry. She cried when we had to leave him. We also saw Minnie, Pluto and goofy. She loved them but didn't quite have the same reaction. I didn't want to buy anything until the last day, but she had other ideas. Friday we took her on the new toy story ride. At the end you walk through a store filled with all things Toy story, she found a woody doll that she did not want to let go of. We prised from her fingers and she threw the tantrum of her life. The next day we went to another Toy Story ride and at the end you had to walk through another blasted store filled with all things Toy Story. She saw him and ran at full speed to get one. This time we let her play with it for a while in the store. The line was super long to buy anything and I didn't want to wait in it. When we went to leave she was not wanting to let go. So again we prised it from her death grip and left the store with a screaming child. She continued to scream as we tried to put her flailing body in the stroller. Corey decided he was just going to wait in line to get him so she would stop crying. Needless to say it his her most favorite toy and she will not let him out of her sight. She also got a Mickey Mouse. They sabotage parents at the cash register when they put all the stuffed animals at stroller level. Her favorite ride was Sleeping beauty's Carousel. we went on it 4 times. We had such a fun time. My legs are still aching!!!! Everything was decorated for Halloween. It was so cute!! It is definitely one of my favorite times of the year to go! We left Sunday night and drove to Las Vegas again. We woke up early Monday morning and got home around 3:00. I love Disneyland!
Thank you Corey and Sophie for a most memorable time!
